Plot
Cheryl Bradshaw, a single woman looking for a groom on a popular 1970s TV show, chooses charming bachelor Rodney Alcala, unaware that behind the man’s gentle facade hides a deadly secret. The comment about Cheryl’s breast is “literally taken from something that happened to me when I was 19”. Near the end of the film, her name is written as Cheryl in one of the stories that reveal what happened after the film. In fact, her name is written as Cheryl, which was correct in the list of actors..
This film touched me for several reasons
Ed: This means the end of our game. Well, Cheryl, it’s time to make a decision! Mentioned in CTV News in Six Toronto: Episode of September 8, 2023 (2023). I was a college student at the time depicted in this film, and I remember very well how naive many young women were about how manipulative, conniving, and dangerous some men could be.
At first I found it a little annoying, but in the end it all made sense
I was lucky that nothing happened to me, because I certainly took risks in situations when I should have known better. And then, when something like a sexual crime happened to a young woman, law enforcement agencies didn’t always take it seriously. They often thought that the girl proposed herself, because, for example, she wore a short skirt and walked alone at night. The pace of this film is deliberate and intense, and it switches between time frames and victims.
Dovatto looked creepy AF
I thought that Anna Kendrick and Daniel Zovatto played their roles very well. Some moments are, of course, fictional, and I’m not sure to what extent. I read something about Rodney Alcala, and the way he was arrested is actually true. If you can handle the slow pace of this movie, it’s definitely worth watching.
